Glen Aspen Ranch

General.  The Pikes Peak Council recently acquired a beautiful parcel of land containing 200 acres just outside of Woodland Park. The property is surrounded on most sides by the Pike National Forest.  The property is hilly with several streams running through the property.  The land is covered with varieties of foliage including pine, cedar and of course Aspen.  Wildlife is abundant and includes a herd of Elk, red tailed hawks, eagles, foxes, coyotes, rabbits, squirrels and much more.

Usage and Reservations.  Scout Troops, Team, and Crews can use the property at any time.  Due to the primitive nature of the Glen Aspen Ranch, it has not been certified by the Council Camping Committee for Cub Scouting activities and events.  Reservations for using the property will be on a first come first served basis and the number of Scouts on the property at any one time to 50 Campers. Please see reservation fee which is attached for the fees. Fire mitigation/cleanup is the major project for the foreseeable future.  To reserve the Ranch for your unit, submit the Reservation Request Form and turn it into the Pikes Peak Council Activity Center at 985 W Fillmore St. A tour permit is required for overnight camping.

Facilities and Services.
There are no indoor facilities at the Glen Aspen Ranch and there are no drive-up campsites.  Scouts using the property will be backpacking and taking everything with them in and out.  LEAVE NO TRACE is the rule.  There is no potable water on the property so you must bring your own drinking water. We have a porta john on the property for campers to use.  There is no cell service in the lower camp however there is a phone that can be used for emergencies in the Campmaster or Caretaker’s cabin.

Geocache Sites.  In the near future, we will have 3 or 4 Geocache sites at Glen Aspen Ranch for your enjoyment.  Click here form more information about this activity.

Campmaster Program.  We have a Campmaster program in place for Glen Aspen Ranch.  For more information about becoming a Campmaster review the attachment.
